Welcome Class of 2012 Sailors! Welcome First Years! An informational meeting for competitive and recreational sailing will be held in early September. Check back here for more information about when and where. Racing: Practice is held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and run by our pair of volunteer coaches, Head Coach Tara Wolcott-Dahlgren and Graduate Assistant Elyse McNiff ’08. Our team competes at 1-4 regattas around New England every weekend from September-November in the fall and March-May in the spring. Racers should be rigged by 4 PM for practice and we usually sail until around 6 PM. Transportation is organized between sailors. Those with extra seats in their car usually swing through ADK at around 3:15 pm. If you cannot make this time please arrange your own ride and join us on the water as soon as possible. Here is a link to the team calendar, which contains practice and regatta details. Please see the list of strongly recommended gear. Sailors with prior racing experience should contact Commodore Chandler at ckoglmei@middlebury.edu or Head Coach Tara twolcott@middlebury.edu.
Recreational Sailing: There are few more beautiful ways to spend a fall afternoon in Vermont than sailing on Lake Dunmore. The boathouse at Lake Dunmore will be staffed from 1pm – 5pm on Friday afternoons for open sailing. Some prior experience is expected although if you are new you are still welcome and we will pair you with those who already can sail. For more information or to be added to the recreation sailing email list, please contact Scott Zolkos at szolkos@middlebury.edu.
PE (Gym) Sailing: There is one beginner sailing class run each fall with 12 slots. It fills up fast, so get your registration in early! This class is taught by US sailing trained instructors and runs from 1:30-5:30 on 4 Monday afternoons during September/October. Please sign up on Banner Web. For more information please contact Scott Zolkos at szolkos@middlebury.edu.
